Power Tools for Caregivers workshop scheduled for March | News, Sports, Jobs

ESCANABA — Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week online workshop, designed for non-professional informal family caregivers, will be held Wednesdays, March 16-April 20, from 2-3:30 p.m. with an optional Zoom orientation on Wednesday, March 9 at 14h

Research studies reveal high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. Caregivers frequently cite restriction of personal activities and social life as problems. Additionally, caregivers often feel a lack of control over events and a sense of helplessness which can have a significant negative impact on their physical and emotional health. The Power Tools for Caregivers online program will provide caregivers with tools to help reduce stress and increase relaxation, make difficult decisions, reduce guilt, anger and depression, communicate effectively, set goals and solve problems , and take better care of themselves while taking care of a loved one. or friend.

Powerful tools for caregivers are offered by the Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Advancement (UPCAP) in partnership with the Tri-County Office on Aging. This online workshop is free, but registration is required. Participants must also have a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet, microphone, webcam and email address to participate. Class size is limited. Registration closes March 6 or until course is full.

To register, visit www.upcap.org or call 2-1-1 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for assistance.
